Good points in the article. I have a page on my Web site with some preparedness resources for those with disabilities. It's at http://destinysurvival.com/preparedness-resources-for-those-with-disabilities/

I also did a podcast with Nolan Crabb a few weeks after he and his wife gave a presentation on putting 72-hour bags together at the ACB convention in Ohio. My blog post about it is at http://destinysurvival.com/2013/12/20/thoughts-on-prepping-for-the-blind-and-visually-impaired/

You’re absolutely correct. I didn’t even think of writing tools, but very true. Technology has been evolving in a positive way for us, but I think we’d be stranded in a scenario where our toys no longer worked, or didn’t work for an extended period. An EMP is something I didn’t even get into in the article, but that’s yet another possibility that could totally disrupt electronics. Thanks for commenting!

Enjoyed the great article. No bad tips in it. I think the one important thing you understated is not to just stockpile all the alternative backup systems, but practice using them should be high on the list as well. Regular systems do often fail, especially at times when they're most needed. You can't depend on navigation systems that require internet connectivity if that essential service is unavailable, which is why I maintain at least one navigational strategy that doesn't have that requirement. Along with basic essentials, don't forget the pocket slate and stylus; It is just as vital as the cane tips you mentioned because note taking is needed more when circumstances are changing quickly.

Now people in most countries either have or can get currency readers that are free or of small cost that are quite effective and I think most importantly, do not require internet to function.
