I really enjoyed the presentation about the Disney standard. Yes Disney should be thanked cause am originally from PA have been to Disney World four times and they really did not have anything that I could really get out of in that kind of way. Am 36, when I first went in 87 back then they had the tapes which was a joke cause it was mainly directions to get around the park. Okay I was little then, am thinking yeah like a blind person can go around the park independently? Think again its really crazy and crowded. Don't get me wrong all of the times I have been there I have had a blast. I think its great that a person like Mike or someone else can get an experience where everything is described in great detail, and realize oh I did not know that some sort of place or area has an arch way above that there are mickey mouse ears. Thanks Disney for making the experiences better for everyone. Another thing was I know Jamie mentioned something about the Titanic. Have been living in San Diego for ten years, just so happens I read online an article about the road show exhibit, so if anyone who is going to CSUN, check it out its in balboa Park in the Natural History Museum. Sounds interesting, but nothing is mentioned about people with disabilities. They really should make accomadations for people who are blind or visually impaired. The article mentions about people can read the stories on the wall about what went on and other stuff. So if everyone else can do that why can't we? It is going from February 10 through September 9. If they really want to do this they should put the stories in braille. What about the Braille Institute helping out. I don't know how menny coppies they could produce but it would be great if they could do that.. Another thing is I know every November they have an art show for the blind at UCSD my husband and I went to it. We had a blast Everything was in braille including the booklet, and the labels at each display. I even told the lady, thanks so much for putting this on. I don't know how menny people attended this art show, but it was really interesting since it was in great detail. It was in a small room, don't know how big it was but how it was laid out was really excellent. Thanks for reading.
